OBX Trip (Pre-Moving Vacation, Part 1)

Somehow in the move and changing computers I ended up leaving all my pictures from our vacation before Vermont on my camera. And forgot all about them until I realized I never posted about our trip! So all this happened back in April, before we moved! Brett ended his job in NC the last week of April so we had plenty of time off to visit friends & family and get packed before we moved far away!

Our first mini-trip was to visit Mom & Dad in the Outer Banks. The first day, it ended up being a little colder than we’d planned, so after a quick stop at several thrift stores for coats, we headed to the NC Aquarium. We’ve been there several times but every time the kids love it. It was the first time Abigail could really walk around, so she was in awe of the huge fish tanks.

And of course that evening we had to go to our favorite ice cream place, Sweet Frog. The kids’ concoctions of strawberry ice cream with gummy bears & M&M’s & sprinkles never cease to amaze me.

The next day we went to the beach in spite of the cold and the wind.

Leah and Andrew had a blast when Daddy would walk with them all the way up to the water, then RUN away as fast as they could whenever a wave came. They wanted to do this again and again. And their pants were soaked at the end. They loved having Daddy play with them and will remember that time for a long time to come.

Abigail was perfectly fine and happy and loved the sand—as long as she had her shoes on. She wanted nothing to do with the sand on her feet. (Reminds me of another little girl when she was around that same age.)

Then, later we enjoyed another beach favorite: putt-putt golf! I think the kids’ faces speak for themselves as to how much fun they had. We gave up keeping score after a few holes and just let them hit the ball around. Abigail didn’t understand what was so hard about the game—just pick the ball up and drop it in the hole—easy peasy!

We made many attempts to get a family picture but to no avail. The sun was too bright, or the kids were too busy having fun. So we settled for small group shots and true-to-life family shots.

When we got back to the house, the kids played in the yard awhile, and I just loved seeing their happy faces and hearing their laughter. I had to capture the moment of pure childhood.

And of course we had to get a good shot of Grandma & Grandpa with their babies.

We are so glad the kids got to spend this time with Grandma & Grandpa before we moved so far away from them!
