Abigail @ 20 months

Abigail Ruth is growing to be quite a character and developing her own sense of personality! She is fiesty, always on the go. She is independent, yet seeks constant attention. She has few words but many opinions, and her own ways of getting them across!

She makes me laugh every day! She comes up with the silliest things sometimes. Like putting ketchup on her apple slices (and just licking it off), or wearing my flip flops with no pants. (She knows how to take her own pants off and will do so immediately upon hearing the word “bath” or “let’s get dressed”.)

She’s sweet and cuddly, but only when she wants to be. There’s about a five minute window where she’s calm and quiet, and then the switch is flipped and she’s off, giggling, squealing & creating havoc along her way. She’s shy and reserved around other people, but not at home! She loves her dolls and can be seen with one tucked under her arm wherever she goes! She’s also starting to like the little Princess figurines that Leah is almost outgrowing. In true Cody kid style, she likes to take them and line them up on the floor, or dance them around the castle.

She’s becoming quite the Daddy’s girl. She wants him to hold her most of the time and sometimes cries when he leaves. She’ll watch him work outside and willingly go hug him when he comes home.

Her vocabulary grows more and more each day, although she’s still not talking nearly as much as I had imagined she would by this age. Among my favorite words she says now are “Uh oh,” “whoa!", “baby,” “pepper” (meaning Dr. Pepper—definitely my girl!), and “birdie.” She loves her short books at bedtime, especially those with Elmo, or repetitive characters she can find & point to on each page.

One of her favorite activities now is taking all the bowls and spoons out of the “kids’ cabinet” and stacking them all up. She also will get the dish towel and wipe up any messes she makes. She’s growing a lot pickier about her food and goes through spurts where she’ll eat anything and everything and then the next day eat nothing. She loves the idea of fruit snacks & marshmallows, because her brother & sister have them for snack, but if I give them to her, I usually find them scattered, half eaten, around the house. She does like most meats and fruits (especially the canned peaches) and of course she loves her milk!

She still takes her 2-3 hour nap every afternoon and sleeps a good 10 hours at night, although now she loves staying up before bed to hear Leah read her stories from her bed.

She’s growing up way too fast, needing me less and less and becoming more and more of a little girl instead of my baby! She has adjusted so well to our new life in Vermont and is almost always a happy little girl.
