Georgia Trip (Pre-Moving Vacation, Part 2)

After we got back from the OBX, we re-packed, rested a day, and turned right around to travel past Atlanta, Georgia to visit my friend Elizabeth, Dan & their kids. The trip was uneventful, and gave the kids a little warm-up before our even longer drive to Vermont! We see their family very rarely so it was a great treat! They, too, were in the process of moving so they were in a transitional apartment provided by Dan’s work. It was big enough for both our families to sleep in, but we certainly didn’t want to keep the kids cooped up there all day. So Day 1 we took the kids out to Monkey Joes! They have tons of bounce castles and arcade games for kids (and grown up kids) to go wild on!

Leah loved playing with Amelia, who is 4. And Abigail loved baby Maddie. Andrew just loved being with Daddy.

Sunday we went to the church where a pastor friend of Brett’s now preaches, which was close to where we were visiting. It was good to reunite with them as well. Brett also got to spend some time with yet another friend he hadn’t seen in awhile. While he did that, Elizabeth & I managed to walk with the kids down the street to Target and Chick-Fil-a for lunch. We needed to get them out of the house that badly! I loved having the one-on-one time with Elizabeth, and the kids enjoyed playing together.

When the guys got back, we were able to enjoy some time at the apartment complex’s pool. Leah & Andrew were fish. And actually, Abigail didn’t mind the water, either. I sat with her on the steps and she got pretty much her whole bottom half wet.

We attempted to get a picture of the kids all lined up in age order, but with that many, of course that’s an impossible feat! Here’s what we came up with:

So happy to have been friends with Elizabeth more than 10 years now! When we get together we pick up right where we left off, as if no time has passed, and yet our families keep growing together.

On the way home I got the brilliant idea to take a picture of the kids in each state to which we travel. It didn’t happen in every state on our way to Vermont because the kids were sleeping or it would be dark or something, but we got a few, and I hope to make a collection of 50 before they graduate high school!

And our newest one (not from our trip—this was taken the other day!)
