Thanksgiving & Intro. to Christmas

We love our little family traditions around Thanksgiving and into the holiday season. Although we certainly miss our families far away, we love our low-key Thanksgiving dinner with just us. We didn't do it up as much this year because it seems the kids rarely eat everything we prepare. So we had the turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes and green beans, but that was about it. And we had leftovers for days, still!

The day after Thanksgiving we love going to get our tree together. Every year we say we'll cut our own but then we end up taking the easy route and picking a pre-cut. We almost always pick the first one we see, and this year was no different. We were in and out of the lot in 10 minutes. I'm not sure why Jacob was mad in this picture except for that he's 3.

The more fun part of getting the tree is getting the house decorated for Christmas. We snack for lunch (always pizza dip & chips) and put on Charlie Brown Christmas. We get out all our sentimental ornaments from years' past-- the kids love seeing the ones in "their" own tin!

This one was taken seconds before he dropped a glass ornament and cut his finger. It put a little damper on his day but we pressed on, haha!

Jacob really wanted to help but didn't quite understand how to put the little hooks on the branches for the ornaments. We found little jobs for him, anyway.

I think he is just pretending to be sad in this picture because all the ornaments were up.

And the finished product, beautiful as usual!
