The Theater Bug

Leah has caught the "theater bug." A group of local homeschool moms decided to organize a theater production for homeschoolers of the show Oliver!, based on Oliver Twist. They only practiced once a week and it was midday-- a much more convenient time for me than many plays, so I told Leah and she was so excited! She has been wanting to do a play for awhile! It got a little busy the last few weeks leading up to the play, but it was worth it in the end to see her excitement and to see her shine on the stage. I also loved seeing her make new friends she wouldn't normally hang out with, and gain independence, since I didn't go to the practices with her. She took her own initiative to memorize her lines and bring all the things she needed to rehearsal each week.

She had a minor role, as a maid, & was in only one scene, with about 5 lines, plus 2 full-cast song & dance numbers. It was a good starting point. And the play was so well run-- it was very enjoyable to watch, no one forgot their lines, they projected well, and it turned out great!

Leah's friend Apple, from church, was in the play with her. It made it even more fun for her to get to see her friend on a regular basis!
