We found out May 8th that we will balance the gender scales in our house-- a little boy. Everyone was really hoping it would work this way and even the kids were praying it would be a boy. Andrew needs another little boy to play with so he no longer has to be subjected to princesses and dolls. I wanted a boy simply because the way the bedrooms in our house are set up-- we have no room for another girl. And of course Brett just wants another son. So he is already much loved.
I feel like I got really big really fast, showing much sooner than ever, and even now, 11 weeks from my due date, I feel as big as I was in the last few weeks with Abigail and the other pregnancies. There have been no complications-- in fact, when I got the ultrasound done, the tech said it took her about 2/3rds the time it would normally take her because he was very cooperative and showed all the parts he needed to show. The doctors are not concerned about weight gain although I have heard so often how big I look.
This is the first pregnancy in which I've craved pickles. Not just pickles, but anything with vinegar-- cole slaw, chicken salad (only my homemade kind, of course), etc. I of course crave chocolate, as well, and really haven't had any food aversions. The summer weather has been very mild in Vermont this year, so I haven't had to deal with heat anywhere near what I dealt with when pregnant with Leah or Andrew in the middle of the summer.
I already have a closet full of clothes ready for him, although that's all that I've really gotten ready. I was given a huge bag-full from a friend at church and just wanted to get everything out and see what I'd need. (Plus I love looking at and smelling all those cute little tiny baby things hanging up in the closet!) We were also given an old-fashioned bassinet that he can sleep in the first few months until we can move him to Andrew's room once he's sleeping through the night. We have very few things to purchase this pregnancy and have already been told we'll get a baby shower. We are so very excited for this little guy's arrival and cannot wait to meet him!
