Leah's big gift was an American Girl doll. Last year she got a generic one and she took good care of it, and proved she would play with it. She talked about this doll, whose name is Lea Clark, for weeks. She knew that it was "too expensive" for us so she figured Santa could get it for her. She was so excited when Santa came through, and she has really doted over this doll! She also got the Ultimate American Girl Doll Encyclopedia, with pictures of every American Girl doll ever made and information about them. She now has dreams of going to the American Girl store.
Leah also got a couple sticker books, a kids' cookbook (I am teaching her how to cook), two Barbie-type dolls, 3-D Art, and a pretend Barbie video camera.
And because her sister spent so much time talking about American Girl and flipping through catalogs, she convinced Abi she also needed a doll, specifically a Wellie Wisher, which is a smaller version of American Girl. I think the selling point for Abi was her boots. We actually thought about getting Abi a generic 18" doll like we did for Leah because we didn't think she'd really take care of the doll or play with it much, but she also asked Santa specifically for Wellie Wisher and kept talking about it over and over, so we had to cave and get that particular one.
Abi also got a doll stroller, a Sofia doll, Kinetic sand, Minnie Mouse figurines, crayons, and a sticker book.
They got kids' gardening sets from Nana, and Abi thought it would be funny to try it in her Kinetic sand.
Andrew's specific request was Spiderman gloves that shoot real webs & water with a Spiderman mask. I'm not sure where he saw this, but we were able to find them at Walmart, and unfortunately they didn't work well. He hasn't really played with them much since. Maybe when the weather's nicer, he'll put them on outside? He still loved the mask, and racked up with his other gifts.
Andrew also got a Batman costume, a book about dinosaurs (his new obsession), a Superman doll that talks, and a giant T-Rex that really stomps & chomps.
Jacob, of course, had no specific requests, and wasn't really easy to buy for. I knew he would prefer the packaging over anything else. Sure enough, he wasn't at all interested in opening his gifts. He was more interested in his snack and wandering around stepping on everyone else's stuff and getting into the wrapping.
We got them several things that were for the whole family: two board games, Legos, and the HUGE gift, an XBox with Kinect. They played this game at a friends' house awhile back and loved it. We liked the idea that has an active component, where they use their whole body to play some of the games-- sports & adventure activities. So they are legitimately exercising inside the house, even in the winter when it's too cold to play outside. They have already enjoyed playing this and I know will enjoy it for a long time to come. Jacob thinks its hilarious when they are jumping and dancing around, and will even try to dance himself, as seen in the video.
Brett set up the game system downstairs and wrapped the empty box with a game for each of them inside. They had to go downstairs to see it, where they also found two GIANT boxes that were a present delivered from Aunt Karen in Texas. She got two battery operated ride-on cars to play outside. One is a princess one, one is a John Deere for the boys. It's been pretty cold and there's been snow, but they've already been outside and loved riding those things (after the ridiculous amount of time they took to put together).
