I never like to make a huge deal out of Halloween, and it tends to sneak up on me, but the kids are really good at coming up with their own costumes with a little help from me. This year, Andrew was invited to a Halloween party with his Tae-kwando instructor at Whirlie's World, where they have arcade games & bounce houses. The kids LOVE this place. These kids are not ALL in his class, but they all take taekwando with his instructor in other classes in the area.
Halloween night we went trick-or-treating in the same neighborhood we went last year, where we can hit about 20 or 30 houses in half an hour or so. It was far too cold to do much more than that, and the kids didn't even want to wear their coats over their costumes. So after they had a bucket-full of candy we went to trunk or treat at church a few minutes & called it a night. They are still eating candy two weeks later!
Leah was Doc McStuffins.
Andrew was Batman's sidekick, Robin. This was the only costume I bought because I found it at a thrift store & he immediately knew that's what he wanted to be.
Abi was going to be a bumblebee but decided at the last minute to be a princess. We didn't put a lot of effort into that.
And my favorite was one Brett came up with after seeing a friend on Facebook do something similar. A week before the election, THIS was a HUGE hit! Brett (the Secret Service agent) had Jacob with him at the church for trunk or treat, and people are still calling Jacob Mr. President. I'd elect him any day! Jacob could stay warm in his stroller, and we didn't have to carry him around-- the costume was practical & cute!
The day before Halloween, we also celebrated Brett's 40th birthday. I had a church friend make him a huge cake & we sang and enjoyed it together.
And we already celebrated Abi's birthday on our vacation, but she had a few gifts Nana & Uncle Brian had sent, so she opened those too.
