Leah Turns 8!

These kids just keep getting older and older every day! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing Leah home from the hospital, in shock that they would actually let us keep something so small. And now she's this witty, sensitive, intelligent, super-organized girl who loves dressing up, Barbies and make up and dancing and singing. She tries to be the mother of her brothers and sister sometimes, but that shows she truly cares about them and she is usually willing to do most anything for them. She is always singing something. She loves some of the more "older" girl shows on the Disney Channel and is fascinated by the teen pop bands and singers. She is easy to please, as long as she perceives things as fair. She "gets" a lot of jokes many kids her age probably wouldn't get. She loves history and reading but hates math and writing.

For her birthday she just asked for a "girly" themed cake. I decided not to do big parties for anyone this year, so we had a simple celebration with just us.

One of her favorite gifts was from Uncle Brian-- a Barbie closet for all the clothes she is quickly accumulating for her dolls. Of course she still has (and plays with) the gigantic Barbie Dreamhouse she got for Christmas two years ago, but the dolls now need a separate closet. They have more space in our house than I do!

Another favorite was the Lego Movie, which for some reason my kids find hilarious.

She also asked for make-up so we got her some lip gloss just for younger girls. And of course there was jewelry and sunglasses.

I think she had a great day and said she had fun. At camp a few weeks ago, she accepted Jesus into her heart and she will be baptized this coming Monday in the lake. I am so excited that she is making great decisions to follow the Lord and seeking Him in her daily life.
