County Fair & a Visit from Grandma & Grandpa

This summer we were lucky enough to have Grandma & Grandpa come to visit us in Vermont during the time of the annual Fair! This was our fifth year and it never disappoints.

The kids went in the back of an ambulance to see the equipment.

Hopefully Jacob will never outgrow his love for the corn box.

We weren't sure how Jacob would feel about the rides this year but went ahead and got him a ticket. To say he loved it would be an understatement! He ran from ride to ride, hopped on confidently by himself and asked to go again and again.

Leah and Andrews' favorite ride was this Superman one where you lay down and get spun around and around.

We all got to go on the Ferris Wheel, even Grandma.

Brett and Leah got stuck on this ride for about 10 minutes. Thankfully they were right at the entrance where we could see them!

And of course we had to enjoy Fair food-- everyone's favorite Fried Bread Dough.

And a stop at the Maple Tent is always a necessity!

We took Grandma & Grandpa to our favorite lake to play and have a picnic.

And we got ice cream when the day was over.

Grandma & Grandpa even got to see Andrew test for his red belt.

We took a quick trip to Dakin Farms for yummy Vermont treats.

And played at the school playground to get some more energy out!

We always have a fun time when Grandma & Grandpa visit!

Andrew's 9th Birthday

And somehow this kid turned 9! Andrew is a fun-loving kid with a big heart. He is funny and intelligent, always asking questions. He loves video games and taekwando, dinosaurs, random facts, and ninjas. He loves to play with his dad and wants to be like him. He hates to feel like people are making fun of him and is super sensitive to that. He likes to read non-fiction books, and is getting more interested in longer fiction chapter books. He likes shows about superheroes and Pokemon. He is sweet and loving and usually pretty easy to get along with!

For his birthday, he wanted to have his two friends Levi & Elijah (who are brothers) over for a sleepover. They did well, and actually slept a little. They mostly did boy things like shoot guns and run around outside and play XBox. He was at Word of Life Camp during his actual birthday, and I missed seeing him on that day more than I thought I would, but I was glad he had a good party beforehand.

I love his expressions in these photos when opening his gifts. I was super excited about the Pikachu cake I made myself, and he seemed to like it, too!
